Courtney Marie Andrews Shares New Video For “Heart and Mind”
In the midst of her coast-to-coast national headlining tour to support her latest album, May Your Kindness Remain, critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Courtney Marie Andrews has released a powerful single to serve as an beacon for empowerment.
The new single, “Heart and Mind,” is accompanied by a music video which depicts home movies of mothers and daughters and sisters. Both the video and the song are a message from Andrews to all women who have felt “weakened” by society through misrepresentation and sexual harassment.
“Even if our bodies have been misused or taken advantage of, we have the power to speak with our hearts and minds,” she said. “The most powerful way to display that message is with simple conversations with those who love us. The mother/daughter bond is incredibly powerful, and I use that to embody protection and safety in this song and video.”
Andrew’s powerful vocals and emotional intensity are incredibly strong throughout the song. Her core message to anyone that they matter and they have so much value — “more than a body,” coupled with the home-video filled music video create nostalgia for times forgotten. It compels the listener/ viewer to think of people they haven’t thought of in a while, they haven’t noticed — and serves as a reminder to notice and acknowledge how each person is a human being.
May Your Kindness Remain, is out now on Fat Possum Records/ Mama Bird Recording Co.
