As a send-off to summer, and in preparation for their upcoming debut album, Daychange, Philly-based band Dry Reef are now sharing a new single, “The Wash.”

Inspired by surf rock while blending into their alt-pop sound, lyrically they’ve drawn from the concerns of their generation. “The Wash” is inspired by young adults and the everyday anxieties they, which includes the band members themselves, encounter.

“I’m constantly living in an impending sense of doom, like the world will swallow me whole at any moment,” said lead vocalist Patrick Gillen. “I’ve been trying to let go of that, and this song is that conversation with myself. I feel like a lot of us feel this way, even if we can’t admit it.”

Combined with these themes, the song’s upbeat vibes capture the sense of summer’s endless easygoing mood. About halfway through the track features a guitar instrumental and creates a feeling of letting it all go and getting lost in the riffs and rhythms.

Dry Reef is currently touring the east coast to promote their debut album, Daychange, which will be released October 5 on Free Drive Records.
