Starting out soft and tranquil, Dustin Tebbutt’s “Satellite,” the latest single from his upcoming EP, Chasing Gold, explores the human and emotional connection a person has with the ones around them.

Creating an intimate space within his folk-pop sound, “Satellite” makes it safe to open up to the vulnerability that comes with questioning one’s place within the networks of friends, family, partners, and others which surrounds everyone.

“For me, its about the echoes of a relationship I was in where I felt like I wasn’t really able to stay or go,” said Tebbutt, “[I was] feeling in awe of the connection we had as I was confronted with its dynamics, and having an outside perspective on things that are more or less out of my control.”

For Tebbutt, the song is an expression of his hindsight on past relationships. Despite the personal inspirations he drew upon, he says the song is about “the nature of the connection we have with certain people” and how “they will always be in your life in some way.”

Chasing Gold will be released on October 26 via Eleven Music.
