The Holydrug Couple Shares “I’ll Only Say This” | New LP Out 9/14 via Sacred Bones

Leading the release of their third album, Hyper Super Mega, Chile-based duo The Holydrug Couple have shared their newest single, “Waterfalls.” As the last song recorded for Hyper Super Mega, the band’s Ives Sepúlveda Minho explains, “the lyrics are very abstract, they have metaphors of what it means to meet someone and fall in love.”
Following the band’s second release (2015’s Moonlust), Minho and Manuel Parra had been feeling exhausted and directionless in their lives and their place in the world. Leaning into those listless feelings about society and our culture, the band went back in time and immersed themselves in “classic albums” from the ’60s and ’70s to incorporate those ideas into their own history.
With its relaxed instrumentals and distant-sounding vocals, “Waterfalls” creates a dream space where its extra textural elements feel like clouds passing through the song. As an update on classic psychedelia with a modern production, the single has a casual daydream quality to it.
Hyper Super Mega will be out Sept. 14th via Sacred Bones Records, and its release will be followed by a US tour detailed below.
